I was surfing the MLS today like I frequently do, and I found this amazing MCM house. Like any MCM-ist who lives in SLC knows, these homes are rare, and they are almost never found in such original condition. This home is screaming out for a new owner to lovingly restore it to it’s original glory.
Built in 1965 by Architect Ed Dreier, this gorgeous house boasts 4050 SF, 4 bed 3 baths, and a .46 acre lot and is located at 3182 E Millcreek Canyon Rd.
Asking price is $880,000 (which quite unfortunately is out of my price range, but maybe not to some of you readers)
The listing agent is Mike Lindsay. Who, I must add, is the agent-of-all-agents in the SL Valley. I have noticed over the years his listings have included some of the best SLC has to offer.
Listing # 1030098
There is an open house for this property on Saturday, May 14, from 3-5.

Here, you can see the architectural tile ceiling, and the huge H beam roof construction.

Here is the gorgeous entryway with the original door. WOW!!

The kitchen has been re-done, but I (being an open-concept type of girl) would open the kitchen up to the rest of the house. with the H beam construction that could be quite easy.

I love that the fireplace is separating two spaces, and is visually in the middle of the house. This is one of the features I loved about my own MCM home.

The gorgeous Mahogany built-ins remind me of my grandparents house. They were true Modern-ists and my grandfather even helped contribute to the inventory of Mid-Century Modern homes in Holladay and SLC.

This house is AMAZING!! I would love to own such an iconic piece of the past. Again, I’m in love with that fireplace. I would probably try a different wood veneer or a glass tile like this:

Then make it pop with an almost-black hardwood or charcoal-stained concrete.

I love these windows! The potential here is truly amazing. I would definitely streamline the flooring throughout the house to keep it consistent. I am not a fan of many different flooring materials in an open-style house.

I am truly jealous of whoever the new owners are going to be. I am aching to get my hands on an incredible find like this!!
If you or anyone you know have a Mid-Century Modern home that you would like me to feature on this site, please contact me. I am always looking for inspiration and new projects to follow.
